I love this manifesto! It’s so easy to get pulled into feeling like we need to do more more more. I’ve been there for a few weeks and this is a nice reminder to take a deep breath and take it slow. Needed to read this today.
I’m so happy I found this post when I found it, it was so needed for a fellow 31-year-old-human who is burned out from freelancing full time 😮💨. Your manifesto guidelines are such a good reminder to slow down and enjoy the ride. Being a freelancer isn’t for the weak let me tell you! 😂
This appeared in my feed at exactly the right moment Lucia! So much good advice! I left a full time job and went freelance earlier this year with a client who wanted me to do 3 days a week. That only lasted a few months and she could no longer afford me. I had to decide whether to jump back into the security of full time or take a pause to reassess what I wanted before acting. I did the latter and it’s been hard - I had a wobble just yesterday and started searching LinkedIn for jobs 😆 but your writing has helped me get clearer on what I want and being intentional about it 👏
Oh that's so lovely to hear, Sara—sometimes you need a sign 🌝 being freelance is HARD, but the easiest thing to do is not always what you need. Please do reach out if you ever fancy a chat with another freelancer :)
Needed to read this as I finish out a kind of quiet year, but I was also compassionate with myself as it's been a tough year otherwise. But happy to see others embrace a slower pace of freelance work life!
I love this. Pieces of this are things I've been thinking about but didn't feel confident some or is start and let the 9-5 Monday take over without realizing.
I like that you wrote it or this was and I'm going to pin it to me wall as a reminder❤️
Thank you for sharing this Lucia. I entered the workforce during the height of the girl boss, hustle till you drop, max out productivity era and I leaned into it HARD. It brought me a sense of purpose and like I was doing something with my life. Unlike you, I am still a full time employee but even in this situation, I am trying to embrace the slow business mindset. Make my own schedule as much as I can, spend time working on the tasks that feel the most important and not the most urgent or sometimes just also taking it slow. Because let's be honest, I work in social media marketing, I am not saving lives or changing the world for the better (probably quite the opposite actually).
yeeeea I felt this one deep! Since going freelance, whenever I'm not working but all my friends are, I feel really guilty. Never mind that there are times when I work on the weekend or late at night, if I'm free on Tuesday afternoon I'm looking for things to do😂 must remember to rest when we can!
I love this. When working for yourself, it's so easy to burn out and we are now having conversations about taking care of ourselves while running our own businesses.

I'm so glad, thank you for sharing Hanna! Absolutely. Anything you'd put on your manifesto? 👀

Wonderful! The image about LinkedIn – felt that in my bones. Eeeekk.
