I'm freelance and can't imagine it any other way, but of course, it's difficult. I'm about to become a father, too; and finding that balance between making enough money and making enough time for my son seems almost impossible.
But, part of being a freelancer, is saying "it'll all work out" and then making sure it does.
But yes, I still daydream of some kind of 'big break', or a sudden influx of 50,000 substack subscribers, or a lottery win.
Freelancing is never easy, but we do it because it's crucial that we do.
